The S class of Mercedes can trace its roots to past many of the decades, but it was in 1973 that company took up the S-class name for its sedan. In 2000, the generation of S-class which was codenamed W220 was introduced. The W220 was quite smaller than its original S-class, but it has a more of leg space's-class came with variety of engines in different markets, the North American ones had V8 power under its hood. In 2000, 4.3 let and 5.0 its engines were there. Mercedes added 5.5 liter and 5.8 liter in 2002 to power the S55 AMG.

The 4MATIC all wheel drive was introduced in S430 and S500. The S55 got supercharged 5.5 its V8 while S600 got a turbocharged 5.5 liter V12 along with an awesome 590 lb ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz SLK

This six cylinder engine was much more refined for a car which had the Mercedes expanded the SLK line up to add the SLK320 which was driven by 3.2 liter V6 engine which had been taken straight from the C class. Though the German name would make a rough engine like Kompressor worth it even with the looks which are really cool. It was capable of good performance, the engine sounded harsh and rough, if we compared it with the engines available in the SLKs key competitors like Porsche Boxster.

Initially these SLK230s were powered with the supercharged 2.3 liter, four cylinder engine which gave 185 horsepower output. It was the first modern car which combined the structural changes to encompass the weather resistance benefits which comes with a hardtop and a wow factor of good looking two seats convertible. All of the SLK's were not build in Bremen, Germany, the SLK 320 were build in South Africa and Mexico.Mercedes Benz SLK 230 came in 1998 with a convertible hardtop. The SLK featured in Car and Drivers Ten best list for a long time in 1997.

It's added weight though marred its performance of 193 hp 2.3 L charged I4 engine and automatic transmission. It was a class apart with its folding hardtop. R170 platform of SLK compressor first came in 1997 for the model year 1998 and competed with BMW Z3. There are few of things which can equal the great feeling which comes when we drive along slick drop top with roof down on a typical summer day.

Mercedes Benz G-Class

As it is The G class is full 4 inches longer than M class SUV which is 180 inches overall. A perfectly businesslike design is softened by the body color bumpers, and rocker panels as also the alloy wheels and spare tire cover. The electronic stability feature in the program helps to keep the things smooth.

This results in the vehicle slowing down at the corners as the rollovers pose the hazards to the vehicle. The G500 slab slides and tall build gives you a great feeling of space which is available in the vehicle which though has a short 183 inch length. This car had Mercedes bank vault feel as you close its doors. The driver sits on the high saddle with a high roof. This one has been handcrafted in the Graz and G500 would face such competitors as BMW X5 and Land Rover 4.6 HSE.

Mercedes claims that its new offering will climb 80 percent of the grade and would maintain stability on 54 percent slope. Geläendewagen which was being sold in the Europe was a hard task machine which was designed for the requirements of military but was transformed into a top end SUV. Mercedes had its M class utility model in the US since 1998, so it now focused on the road durability factors in its latest models. Initially only 1500 units of it were available in the US by the fall of 2001, with a price of $72000. Mercedes Benz new G500, G class evolved from the Geläendewagen which was sold in the Europe.
